The warmest months are July and August with an average about 22 C, the coldest January and February with some over 5 C in the middle. In the summer, temperatures can reach during the several-day periods of heat up to about 30 C in the shade. Winter is cool and sometimes cold with spring-like sunshine, but rain and cold spells and frequent snowfalls. Across Turkey, the climate is drier and warmer than in Istanbul.
